Home Energy Assessment Intern

About Us: Seeds for the Sol and Energize Bend are on a mission to promote energy equity, combat climate change, and enhance community resilience. We are seeking interns who are passionate about making a meaningful impact in the field of energy efficiency and climate action.

Position Overview: As a Home Energy Assessment (HEA) Intern, you will play a vital role in our community outreach efforts targeting Low-to-Middle Income (LMI) households. Your responsibilities will include conducting HEAs, helping households access low to no-cost insulation, high-efficiency heat pumps, and heat pump water heaters.

Key Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a preference for proficiency in Spanish.

  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail abilities.

  • Self-motivated and able to manage your time effectively to achieve specific metrics.

  • Passion for contributing to climate action and community well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish contact with LMI homeowners and schedule HEAs.

  • Receive training on HEAs and energy efficiency incentives.

  • Conduct HEAs, accurately complete required forms, and submit them to Seeds for the Sol.

  • Participate in community events and fairs as part of outreach efforts.

  • Stay informed about energy efficiency incentives and the importance of carbon reduction and electrification.

  • Set flexible work hours to accommodate client schedules.

Expectations for Success:

  • Maintain a professional appearance when representing Seeds for the Sol.

  • Use industry-standard terminology when discussing incentives.

  • Be physically mobile to perform HEAs, including limited access to crawl spaces, attics, or ladders.

  • Generate a minimum of 10 HEAs per month, with a reasonable goal of 20 HEAs/month.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $18.00 per hour during the training process (approximately 10 hours).

  • $10 additionally for every accurate and completed HEA after training.

  • Opportunities for advancement into a salaried position as the program develops.
