The City of Bend adopted a common sense policy to help reduce emissions and the cost of living in our city: The Climate Pollution Fee. The policy established an extra charge for new residential buildings constructed with gas appliances in order to incentivize the use of clean, affordable, and energy efficient appliances like heat pumps.

The City of Bend recently adopted the Climate Pollution Fee on new homes that install natural gas equipment. The revenue from this fee will be invested back into our community to help reduce climate pollution while improving health, comfort, and affordability.
Before decisions are made about how these funds should be spent, we want to hear from the people these programs are intended to benefit.
Too often, programs are designed without asking the people they're meant to serve what they actually need.
Your experiences—whether you struggle with high energy bills, wildfire smoke, keeping your home comfortable, or something else entirely—will help identify the biggest challenges people in Bend are facing. We'll use what we learn to share community priorities with City leaders and advocate for programs that reflect real needs.
